Natural Light Source
Every shed should have natural sunlight coming in to illuminate the space and make it a better work environment.
Great natural light source — a solar tube for shipping containers!
The Conex Solar LightBlaster is a low profile tubular skylight, also called a solar tube or sun tunnel, that is a great source of natural sunlight into your dark shipping container. Save electricity and let the sun shine and illuminate your Conex shipping container during the daylight hours.
How easy is this to install? A Conex Solar LightBlaster tubular skylight is a very simple install. It comes with a template to help you cut the circular hole in your container's roof. Check out the installation guide for the full instructions.
What about my container's roof integrity? Once installed, your container's roof integrity is restored to full strength due to the special design and attachment protocol. We don't just cut a hole and adhere a vent over the hole. With the installation hardware, the vent itself becomes part of your container's structure restoring its integrity. This is a CRUCIAL difference between what Solar Blaster offers and our competitor's products. We also ONLY affect one roof rib and not two.
Measurements of each size:
- 3.5" ribbed Solar LightBlaster: 14x11x8
- 6.5" ribbed Solar LightBlaster: 16x13.25x8
Solar Tubes vs Traditional Skylights
Solar tubes, or tubular skylights, are quite innovative in their design and provide a very good source of daylighting in your shed. They maximize the amount of sunlight they collect, while filtering out the heat and glare that traditional skylights produce.

Economical
Cost savings in both the unit and also in the installation.
More expensive for the unit as well as an extensive installation requirement.
Energy Efficiency
Energy Star® rated offering great, natural light with minimal heat gain and loss.
Some skylights provide ventilation by opening. The fixed ones can be a source of heat gain driving up the cost of air conditioning and heat loss increasing winter heating bills.
Attractiveness
Interior design looks much like a light fixture - very sleek. The exterior is also small and attractive from the street.
Has a larger footprint on your roof and also impacts the interior design of your home.
Quality of Light
Due to the design of the interior diffuser, the indirect light output is much more than you'd expect throughout the day. It is also a very natural light without color distortion. Doesn't fade your valuables.
Depending on the quality of the dome, the light can be discolored throwing a yellowish or grayish tone. Also, due to its design, the light's path changes with the sun and can be quite harsh at times during the day. May lead to discoloring items in its path over time.
